This checklist helps you prepare for a BMW key appointment in Sydney. For the service itself, model guides and a vehicle-specific quote, visit our BMW Key Replacement Sydney service page.
1. Send the vehicle and key details
Include the BMW model, build or model year, Sydney suburb and whether any key still starts the car. Describe conventional ignition, push-button start or Comfort Access as applicable. Send a clear photo of any existing key or dashboard warning. Provide VIN privately when requested.
2. Explain the actual problem
Tell us whether a key is lost, the doors are locked, remote locking is intermittent or the car will not start. A faulty remote and a no-start condition can need different assessment. Mention water damage, a recent battery change, programming attempts or replaced modules.
3. Confirm access to the parked car
Give the exact parking location when booking. Mention underground garages, height restrictions, entry arrangements and parking limits. Keep the car accessible during the appointment and bring every retained key.
4. Prepare ownership evidence
Have identification and vehicle ownership or authorisation evidence ready. If you are arranging work for a company, dealership or someone else, explain your authority when booking. Share personal documents privately.
5. Agree the key and complete quote
Confirm whether the key is genuine or aftermarket, which functions are included and how many keys will be supplied. Ask whether the quote includes programming, blade cutting, entry, attendance, GST and any diagnostic charge. Agree how additional work will be approved.
For more detail, read the BMW spare-key cost guide or dealer and locksmith comparison.
6. Allow for the vehicle’s security system
A working-key appointment can differ from an all-keys-lost recovery. Later BMW systems require specific assessment; avoid assuming that another owner’s experience proves compatibility for your car. Read our G Series programming guide if relevant.
7. Test the keys before handover
Check the replacement independently of other keys, then check each retained key. Test starting, remote lock and unlock, any agreed Comfort Access features and any supplied blade. Keep the invoice and supplied-key description.
Arrange your appointment
Call 0478 888 673 or send an SMS with your model, year, Sydney suburb and whether a working key remains. Open daily 10am-10pm. Mobile visits depend on availability; workshop visits are by appointment.
